You are transitioning from being a senior in high school to a freshmen in college, it’s almost as if you’re going back to square one. We want to be a part of easing this transition for you! At Square One, you will meet other UA catholic students. Starting the year, making solid friends with other freshmen and some of Bama Catholic’s actively involved upperclassmen can make all the difference when entering into this awesome (but rather large) campus.
Aside from meeting new Catholic friends, there will also be food, a t-shirt, small groups, fun activities, prayer, and talks that will help prepare you for the practicals of college life!
Our goal for Square One is to empower new students at University of Alabama to take hold of their faith as Catholic adults and live that faith out in order to transform the Church and the world for Christ. This includes building relationships and having an all-around good time. We would love to have the chance to let new students know about the exciting things going on at Bama Catholic and encourage them to maintain a relationship with God and make the Sacraments a priority throughout college. This is open to Catholic and non-Catholic freshmen!
Square One will take place August 26, 2023 from 9am-6pm at St. Francis University Parish. The cost of our retreat is $25 and provides snacks, lunch, dinner, and a t-shirt! If the cost is an obstacle to your attendance, please email Alex Henderson.
